AS3: Task 5 (FINAL DRAF) Final Evaluation

(FINAL DRAFT) Final Evaluation

Product:

The product we were showing the advert  was called the Nexus 6P, P stands for premium. It is a smartphone and the USP of it is the the dual front facing speakers for the best listening experience.

Target Audience:

This product will be aimed at teenagers, who like listening to music outlaid and watching videos on their phones.

The idea behind the advert was to show how brilliant the speakers in the phone really are. Also Because the advert is using teenagers (who are the target audience), the phone would be more attractive to them.

Audience Feedback:

I used one method to receive audience feedback. I carried out a focus group. I predominantly asked the group qualitative questions.

I Asked Questions Like:

Was their anything specific you liked?
Was the product shown clearly?
Was the USP of the product shown clearly?

The reason I asked these types of qualitative was because the audience could give detailed answers on different aspects of the advert.

They said things like:

They thought that the advert was very good and entertaining. It kept them engaged right till the end of the advert.

They both liked hoe picture in the background was showing up  correlating to beat of the music. Also liked how the background was cut around  the character when the music was playing.

They were able to tell  the product  was the smartphone because the actor had used the phone to play music throughout speakers. Also ending where the phone was shown in the conciliation of the advert.

I feel that I asked the best and most effectively. This is because i received detailed answers for the audience..

My Opinions On The Advert

I think the video was very successful. This is because the video was able to reach the intended audience and kept them engaged.
Some improvements I would make in the video would be to add text to the bottom of the video screen. This would allow people to understand the product.

Conciliation:

In conciliation the technical production of the advert good through  most of the video but, there was some jiggering at the beginning of the video when the camera was moving with one of the characters
The video clearly showed what the product was and successfully sells the product.
The idea of the advert was very good and came out  very well on the final advert.

My Opinions On The Idea

The idea was very good and there would not be much to change, this is because the idea met all the requirement that me and the group needed.

Conciliation:

Overall the final advert was excellent and achieved the aims and objectives we needed. the target audience was clear as well as what the product was.
I am very happy with the final advert and it came out very well

AS3 Task 3: Sources of Information

Sources of Information

The pre-production documents were very helpful in preparing for the  production of the advert. We used the following documentation:

Storyboard

We drew our storyboard on paper. We used it as guideline of what to do when were filming the television advert. The picture of the storyboard we are following is also posted on a previous blog post.

We used the the storyboard during the production of the advert. It was very very helpful because it was guiding us when we were filming.

Production Budget

We used this to understand the cost of the equipment we used. The production budget could have been improved by  having the specific names of each piece of equipment. This would have been beneficial as we could have accidentally could have bought the wrong equipment.

Shooting Schedule

This document was very helpful during the filming of the advert. This was because it clearly laid out what to do and how to do it.

One thing I would improve to this  document  would be including a list of the the equipment that we used, with their prices. This would have allowed us to make sure we pay the right prices and not over pay for anything.

Production Schedule

There are three types of production schedules. We used the location sheet. This was also helpful because it showed where we would be filming.

The call sheet was useless to our group as we already had our contact information because we know each other personally.

Contingency Plan

This was another helpful document because it showed how me and my group can avoid any issues that may accrue during the filming of the advert.

I do not think that we could have made any improvements to the document. this was because we mentioned all  contingencies for all the problems that could have accord.

AS3 Task 2 Focus Gruop

Focus Group

I have recently conducted a focus group, including two people. They both watched the advert i have created and i asked the following questions:

What did you think of the advert?

They thought that the advert was very good and entertaining. It kept them engaged right till the end of the advert.

Was their anything specific you liked?

They both liked hoe picture in the background was showing up  correlating to beat of the music. Also liked how the background was cut around  the character when the music was playing.

Was the product shown clearly:

They were able to tell  the product  was the smartphone because the actor had used the phone to play music throughout speakers. Also ending where the phone was shown in the conciliation of the advert.

Was the USP of the product shown clearly?

They thought USP of the product was shown clearly and they identified the USP  of the phone was the high quality speakers. They identified it because of the advert using the speakers of the phone, also the ending of the advert stating the speakers of the phone.

Would you buy this product?

They said they would buy the product because of the USP. They felt the phone was marketed differently to any other phones and really liked the speakers because they listen to music frequently.

AS3 Task 1 Final Advert

The Final Advert

The video above is our finished television advert!

AS2: Task 6 Pre-Production

Pre-Production

Proposal:

Me and my team have proposed our advert idea to the client. We convinced the client  to to go ahead with our Idea. The video of me pitching the idea is shown in my previous blog post.

Storyboard:

We drew our storyboard on paper. We will use it as guideline of what to do when we are filming the television advert. The picture of the storyboard we are following is also posted on a previous blog post.

Production schedule:

Me and the team will start the production of the television advert  on Monday 23rd of May. If necessary the production will be pushed to the following day, just in case of rain or the absence of a team member. The time of production may extend to two days. There will be a total of two to three scenes.

We will be producing the television advertisement in the Robert Clack school premises, with their permission. We will film outside in their playground at a bench.

The team consists of two actors a director and a camera operator. We will all be sharing contact information like phone numbers and email addresses. This will allow us to keep each other up to date on the progress of the project and any information that may effect the production schedule.

Contingency plan:

As mentioned earlier we may encounter bad weather most likely being rain. So, we will look at the weather forecast ahead of the filming day to avoid the rain. Another problem we could encounter would be the absence of a team member. So, we will keep another day available following the original filming day.

Risk assessment:

There would be very minimal risks while filming this advert. A potential risk could be the wind blowing the camera over and the camera would get damaged.

Shot list:

There will be approximately five shots in the advert we will be producing. All five shots will be filmed outside.

Shot 1

One of the friends are listening to music from their mobile through their head phones

Shot 2

Another friend asking them to put the music on speaker so all can enjoy.

Shot 3

The first friend responds that the screen of the phone is small and the speakers are not that great.

Shot 4

The third friend suggests that they can use their phone, which has a bigger screen and better front facing speakers.

Shot 5

The last shot shows all of the friends enjoying the music video on the Nexus 6P smart phone.

Costumes

All characters being played will be wearing casual clothing, consisting of jeans, T-shirts etc. This was also mentioned in a previous blog post.

We would need the following things for the production of the advert:

We will need a Nexus 6P (smart phone) and any other smart phone, these would be found from our group's personal property. We will also need some earphones also found from our personal property. The recording equipment would consist of a camera and an external microphone borrowed from the school.

Costumes and Props

We would be wearing casual everyday clothes and will be using two smartphones and a pair of earphones for the production of the advertisement. We will source all of our customs and props from our groups personal property.

AS2: Task 5 Pitch

AS2 Task 4

Task 4

We should not run into any issues pertaining to legal and ethical issues e.g. copyrighted music, copyright of ideas . We have not stolen anyone else's idea.

We as a group came up with the advert idea. We did look at other adverts made by other companies who have a similar product. We did not copy any of their ideas, we just looked at them for inspiration on how our advert could be.

We will not have false claims shown  in our advert. The advert would not claim do be the best at anything because that would lead to a very controversial and opinionated advert.

In the advert we will not swear and curse so, should not offend anybody viewing it. We will try and avoid anything that may offend any viewer, we will think very carefully when doing the production of the advert.

The product Will be shown frequently in the advert so, the viewer can easily see it and identify that the advert would be about that product.

The advert would be suitable for all all age groups including children. It would not have a negative impact on anybody including children.

We are fooling the guidelines provided by the ASA:

AS2 Task 3: Requirements for Production

Requirements for Production

We will be carrying out the first advert idea in the ideas generation post.

Technical Equipment

We would need the following things for the production of the advert:

We will need a Nexus 6P (smart phone) and any other smart phone, these would be found from our group's personal property. We will also need some earphones also found from our personal property. The recording equipment would consist of a camera and an external microphone borrowed from the school.

We will be carrying out the production in school. The equipment used will not cost anything as they would already be owned by people in the group and will borrowed by the school.

The production of the advert will approximately take two days. Each shot would take around fifteen seconds on average

If we did not have the school to borrow the recording equipment, we would look for a camera rental shop.

Filming Location

We will be filming the  advertisement in the school.

We would get permission From the media teachers in the school, they would be able to let us film on the school premises. We would get to the location by walk. Some problems we would encounter could include students moving lessons and making noise in the corridor. If we were to film outside the weather conditions could interfere, most likely rain.

Other alternatives of filming locations could be a house and or a park in the local area.

Actors and Actresses

We will have three actors and one actress, we are all teenagers. Our group will be doing the acting, we will not need to carry out auditions for more actors. We will not hire any actors and we will not pay any actors. We will hopefully do a good job of acting. As we will not be performing in the public, we would not need a disclaimer to show we are performing.

Costumes and Props

We would be wearing casual everyday clothes and will be using two smartphones and a pair of earphones for the production of the advertisement. We will source all of our customs and props from our groups personal property.

AS2 Task 2: Ideas Generation

Ideas Generation

First Idea

The contents of our first idea was that we would have somebody watch something on their phone whilst listening through their headphones. Soon afterwards, another person would ask if they could play it out loud through the phone's speakers. The person suggests it would not be a good idea because the speakers on his phone are not that good.  Then someone else suggests to watch it on their phone phone because their phone would have a massive high-quality screen and loud and clear front facing speakers. The idea ends with those people enjoying what they are watching.

This idea is a realist narrative because someone could find themselves in a similar scenario in their everyday life.

The style of intertextuality will be used in the advert.

The target audience would mainly be teenagers. This is because they really like to listen to music.

The advert appeals to the target audience because  it clearly shows the listening of the speaker from the phone and shows how good the quality of the speaker is.

The advert clearly shows the unique selling point. The USP is the high-quality front facing speakers on the product.

The following picture is the storyboard for this idea:

Second Idea

The second idea is about  is a about a group of people wanting to set up a a small party. So, they call a friend To bring speakers for their party. Their friend comes in and shows them their phone and says the phone is as very loud and and has a clear listening experience.

This idea is also a realist narrative because someone could find themselves in a similar scenario in their everyday life.

The style of intertextuality will also be used in this advert.

The advert also appeals to the same target audience because  it clearly shows the listening of the speaker from the phone and shows how good the quality of the speaker is.

The advert clearly expresses the unique selling point. The USP is the high-quality front facing speakers on the product. It implies the speakers on the phone are as good as actual speakers.

The following picture is the storyboard for this idea:
